How Raakzaam Care transforms challenges into opportunities to shape the future
Raakzaam is an innovative care organization with a rich history dating back to the founding of Dagcentrum Sint-Niklaas vzw in 1975 and Vesta vzw in 1976. Following a merger in 2021 under the name Vesta, the organization has been operating as Raakzaam since January 1, 2022. Although the name is new, it reflects more than four decades of experience in care and support. Raakzaam combines technological innovation with sustainable practices to respond flexibly to the evolving needs of clients and care teams, offering tailored support to people with care or assistance requirements.
Flexibility and sustainability hand in hand thanks to the open LynX ecosystem
A key advantage of this technological approach is its great flexibility. Devices such as push buttons, wristbands, and door sensors are easily adaptable and can even move with the organization to a new location. This aligns perfectly with Raakzaam’s sustainable vision: investing in systems that grow with the organization, even in the event of relocation or renovation.

Care of tomorrow: Sustainable relationships and green innovation
At Raakzaam, sustainability goes beyond ecological choices. It is also about building strong relationships—with employees, clients, and suppliers. By fostering long-term collaborations, a solid network of trust and stability is created.
Additionally, the focus on modular care solutions plays a crucial role. Through a ‘pick-and-choose’ approach, clients and care teams determine together which technologies and tools are needed. This makes care flexible and future-proof, without unnecessary costs or overinvestment.
With this approach, Raakzaam lays a strong foundation for the future. By combining technological innovations with sustainable practices, the organization ensures that both current and future generations can rely on high-quality care.
At Raakzaam, challenges are transformed into opportunities to create innovative, intelligent solutions that enhance the lives of clients and caregivers alike.
Turning challenges into opportunities through technology
At Raakzaam, obstacles are seen as opportunities to develop innovative and smart technological solutions that improve the lives of both clients and caregivers. Here are a few examples showing how technology makes a difference:
Support for less mobile clients
For clients with reduced mobility, acoustic sensor technology provides a simple and efficient way to call for help. This technology listens for specific sounds, such as a call for assistance, and ensures that caregivers are immediately notified. This not only enhances safety but also gives clients the confidence that help is always within reach.
Safety and efficiency in emergency situations
With aggression tags and localization systems, caregivers can immediately call for help in emergency situations—such as a first-aid incident or an act of aggression. Thanks to real-time location data, colleagues know exactly where to go, saving valuable time. These systems not only provide peace of mind but also strengthen teamwork and the overall sense of safety within the staff.
Combining safety and freedom for residents
Door sensors play a crucial role in protecting residents from wandering or leaving without permission. This smart technology alerts caregivers whenever a door is opened, allowing them to intervene quickly if necessary. At the same time, these systems ensure residents maintain the freedom of movement they need, so they don’t feel restricted in their daily lives. It’s a perfect balance between safety and autonomy.
At Raakzaam, technology is seen not just as a tool, but as an opportunity to elevate the care experience for everyone
